Property Description

Castello di Tizzano is a historical residence made up of a large complex, consisting of the villa, the tower, a romantic park, the French garden, the outside infinity-edge pool (12×8 m, 1.50 m deep) surrounded by olive groves and a sunbathing. The breathtaking panoramic terrace overlooks the rolling hills of Chianti and the Dome of Florence Cathedral.

The Castle has been the residence of many illustrious Florentine families throughout the centuries, such as Scolari, the family of the famous general Pippo Spano, and the Pitti, before becoming the property of the Medici family. By the mid-1500s, the current main building of Tizzano was rebuilt along the ruins of the ancient castle. In 1585, it was donated by the Grand Duke Francesco de Medici

to the well-known sculptor Giambologna, and on his death passed to his pupil Pietro Tacca. The accommodation outside the castle remained unchanged until 1793. During the Napoleonic era, the castle was bought by Prince Talleyrand, until the second half of the 1800s when it was purchased by Count Roberto Pandolfini and his wife Beatrice dei Principi Corsini. Since then, the Villa has been still owned by the Counts Pandolfini. In 1999, Elizabeth Pandolfini inherited the ownership of the castle from her father and began a long work of restoration in order to bring the structure back to its former glory.
